چکیده
Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is characterized by pruritus in the setting elevated serum bile acids (BA). While some studies have identified cholecystectomy (CCY) as a risk factor for developing ICP, little known about effects prior CCY on severity or outcomes disease. Our objective was to compare maternal women with and without who developed ICP. This retrospective cohort study patients diagnosed ICP between 2012 2019 at tertiary referral center. defined symptomatic combined BA ?10 ?mol/L. Maternal characteristics were abstracted from electronic medical records compared those CCY. Student’s t-test, Mann-Whitney U, Chi-squared Fisher’s exact tests used appropriate. A p-value < 0.05 considered statistically significant. 438 included analysis. Women shared similar baseline including age, race, gestational age diagnosis. more likely severe disease (BA ?100 ?mol/L, 12% vs 2%, p<0.01) despite no difference history cesarean section, delivery (43% 28%, p=0.04). There trend AST CCY, though this not significant (45% 31%, p=0.05). incidence diabetes, hypertensive disorders pregnancies, fetal growth restriction, preterm labor two groups. also composite adverse neonatal (33 29%, p=0.48). are delivery. Serial acid measurements evaluate development may be warranted population.View Large Image Figure ViewerDownload Hi-res image Download (PPT)

Alanine aminotransferase as a predictor of adverse perinatal outcomes in women with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the associations between adverse perinatal outcomes and serum transaminase levels at the time of diagnosis in patients with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy. METHODS We performed a retrospective analysis of patients hospitalized for evaluation of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy from January 2013 to June 2014 in a tertiary center. Seventy-one patients were divi...
متن کاملIntrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy.
Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy is the most common pregnancy-specific liver disease that typically presents in the third trimester. The clinical features are maternal pruritus in the absence of a rash and deranged liver function tests, including raised serum bile acids. Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of adverse perinatal outcomes, including spon...

Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is the most common liver disease during pregnancy, characterized by otherwise unexplained pruritus in late second and third trimester of pregnancy and elevated bile acids and/or transaminases. ICP is associated with an increased risk of adverse perinatal outcomes for the fetus and the later development of hepatobiliary disease for the mother. Bile aci...
متن کاملA Comprehensive Evaluation of Steroid Metabolism in Women with Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy
Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is a common liver disorder, mostly occurring in the third trimester. ICP is defined as an elevation of serum bile acids, typically accompanied by pruritus and elevated activities of liver aminotransferases. ICP is caused by impaired biliary lipid secretion, in which endogenous steroids may play a key role. Although ICP is benign for the pregnant woman...
متن کاملHealth behavior after intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy
Background: Pregnancy is an opportunity to adopt favorable health behaviors. We studied whether intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) promotes favorable health behavior in later life. Design: A prospective controlled cohort study. The method was a questionnaire survey in 2010 among 575 women with ICP and 1374 controls, all having delivered between the years 1969 and 1988 in Tampere Univer...
